It's tough for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

This is the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a side that has won it all.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their hitters to possess a record if not afforded the chance.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to create her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her debut and seven global championships have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India momentarily interrupted the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not fail again.

Whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the case for the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was considerably tougher to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this innings came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in training, it has been a disappointing period because it appeared my form was missing completely," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your competitive nature take over and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her key asset - and a priceless quality in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and after that Healy was underway.

"An opportunity to take the field and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

By the time she was out the team required another 66 at one run per ball - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the confidence to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if we do, we know we can achieve it."

Those words will be the last competing nations at this championship should hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this victory succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was at that stage they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing through the pain.

Yet even as she later admitted those physical issues have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this championship is anticipated as her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as captain.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
